| 2003 J.Kirkwood Merlot J. Kirkwood Merlot 2003 was made from the Carneros vineyards of Tony Truchard and Larry Hyde. Estate grown cabernet franc was added to round out the blend. The wine is deeply colored and has a nose exhibiting plums and dark cherries. These fruity notes greet the palate and are followed by a complex mouth feel, silky tannins and a lingering finish. This serious merlot perfectly complements a variety of robust meals and should drink well for several years. J.Kirkwood wines are made using traditional barrel-to-barrel racking techniques without filtration or fining. The philosophy of wine-making is patterned after the time honored methods of the small, closely attended chateaux of Pomerol.
